Kasadasi, Turkey (Biblical Ephesus)

Our first trip was to the House of the Virgin Mary.  It is believed that when at the cross Jesus asked to John to take care of his mother, he took her to Turkey and this is the were they went and lived.

As you can see it is a very small and modest house.

Outside there is a fountain of spring water that is suppose to have healing powers.

And a wall of prayers.

Many people have left their prayers.

The Alexandor's statue is the only statue left in its original place at the upper end of Kurets Street. 

Kurets Street starts from Prytaneion, passes the Domitian square and goes until the Celsus Library.  It is at the centre of the city.

The Traian fountain is on the right side of Kurets Street.  It was originally built between years 102-114 AD and was dedicated to Emperor Traian between 98-117 AD.

The circles on this statue base (8 circles) would have been a statue of a 8-time Olympian.

Our last stop for the day was a carpet weaving demonstration

Amazing work.  She does this 4 hours every day.  No wonder these carpets are so expensive.
